Service: Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 10 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Christ Our Savior Parish.
Catherine A. Filipcic, affectionately known as Cathy, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 19, 1951, on the Northside of Pittsburgh, it was there that she grew up, worked, and remained throughout her life, building lasting relationships and a legacy of devotion to family and home.
On May 6, 1978, Cathy married her beloved husband, Matthew Filipcic. Their love story began as a blind date arranged by coworkers who became family —a beginning that blossomed into a lifetime of love, partnership, and happiness.
Just a little over a year after their wedding, on October 16, 1979, Cathy and Matt welcomed their daughter Kristin. She would complete their family and was truly Cathy’s pride and joy. Cathy was honored to stand by Kristin’s side as she married her true love, John Truel, this past November.
Cathy will be remembered for her deep love of family, her quiet strength, and her unwavering devotion to those she held close. She also cherished the lifelong friendships she built and nurtured over the years, valuing loyalty, shared memories, and genuine connection. She found joy in life’s simple moments and gave freely of her care, kindness, and steadfast support. Her presence brought comfort and steadiness, and her love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory remains a lasting source of love and gratitude.

Cathy and I were very close for many years and my heart aches deeply for our loss, her smile and she was like a big sister in my heart. We started out as coworkers with nothing in common but that soon changed as we relied on each other in a very tough job at 911 for many years. Rest peacefully Cathy Fillipcic I loved you like a big sister and friend. Cathy Matt and Kristen with my love I thank you all for just having a heart of gold in my life.🙏🏽
