Service: Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday October 16th 10am at Saint Mark the Evangelist parish, Saint Kilian Church. Arrangements held by Devlin funeral home of Cranberry.
Barbara J. Tomchik, 69, passed away on October 4, 2024. Daughter of the late Robert and Helen Malysko. She is survived by her loving husband Richard Tomchik. Barb will be greatly missed by her family, including many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, friends, neighbors, and previous coworkers.
Barbara enjoyed taking daily walks around their Adams Ridge neighborhood, arm-in-arm with her beloved husband Rick. She was an avid cyclist, who climbed the steepest hills with ease.
Barb shared her creative talents with friends and family, beautifully decorating her home for holidays, and gifting fun wares from sewing projects. She loved flowers, planting a variety throughout her garden and planters. Barb had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing along with her favorite jazz and R&B recording artists.
A speed reader, Barb enjoyed American adventure novels, which she would then beautifully replay character roles and plotlines to her husband along their long walks. Her creative storytelling and games entertained nieces and nephews, and their children, over many decades. Always conveying a message of creative expression, living a joyful life, and of hard work and determination.
A Pitt fan, Barb especially loved the Big East basketball era, attending games with her husband Rick. Barb and Rick enjoyed traveling, especially to national parks, historic sites, churches, and interesting architectural buildings.
A true animal lover, Barb and Rick raised golden retrievers in their early years, Jasmine, Molly, and Honey, who she cherished dearly.

I am so very sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful light of joy! We have you on our prayers.
Barb was such a sweet woman. I had the privilege of meeting her and Rick in the neighborhood on one of their walks. I stopped and chatted with them saying I have dreams of walking hand and hand with my husband like they were. Turned out we exchanged numbers and became friends and enjoyed talking when we would see each other. I was praying for Barb and so sad to hear her fight came to and end but happy she is no longer in pain or suffering and in a much better place looking down on us.
We love you Barb and Rick
Heaven will have your apple dumplings!!!!
