Arthur Perkins III, 66, passed away on April 26.2026. Art (Artie to his childhood friends and family) was born in Pittsburgh but settled in Cranberry Township. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Perkins, Jr. and mother, Edythe Maude Smith. Beloved husband of 33 years of Yolanda Dingess: Loving father of Jonathan; brother of Deborah Sims (Theodore); Uncle Art to two generations of nieces and nephews.
Art attended the University of Pittsburgh with the career goal of becoming a teacher like his mother Edythe but as life happened, he redirected his energy to being the stay-at-home father for their son, Dr. Jonathan Arthur Perkins. Art introduced Jonathan to swimming, tennis and golf, his personal favorites. Jonathan and Art traveled the country for junior tennis for many years. Art documented their adventures through his own growing love of photography.
Art played tennis and football from a young age and enjoyed swimming and golf until his passing. Throughout their marriage, he captured the family trips to beaches, museums and national landmarks from NYC to LA, as he expanded his love of photography. Two things that would get Art out of bed early in a morning, trying to capture the perfect sunrise or an early tee time. He loved older movies and musicals and preferred the music of his youth, which he listened to on a daily basis.
Art and Yolanda enjoyed years of charity work to benefit the children of the greater Pittsburgh area. Art was often heard telling others, “She’s the brains and I’m the muscle” (as he dropped off toys, clothing and school supplies.) but Yolanda would say “he’s the heart”.
Family and friends will be received for visitation on Friday, May 1st, 2026, from 2-4pm and 6-8 pm at the Devlin Funeral Home, North Hills, 806 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15229. A celebration of Art’s life will take place on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, at Devlin Funeral Home. Art will be laid to rest at Allegheny County Memorial Park, 1600 Duncan Avenue, Allison Park, PA 15237.
Art loved the children, so in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Angels Place, angelsplacepgh.org, for “the love of ART”

We will miss Art at Chick-fil-A. We are stunned and saddened by this loss. He loved to talk about his family and we loved to listen so very sorry for your loss.
Yolanda my condolences to you and your son.
Yolanda and Jonathan
Sending my sincere condolences to you and your family. I can tell you that Art was extremely proud of you both. Often talked to me about your medical careers and also Jonathan’s tennis. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Good person and worked at the JCC of PGH years ago with me.
His infectious laugh, kind misdemeanor and love of photography were a joy.
I am so sorry to hear this. He and his sister grew up on my street. After they moved from the neighborhood I Sometimes would sometimes see him in the Giant Eagle in Fox Chapel. Condolences to you and the rest of the family. Prayers going up
Mr. Perkins, as we called him with love and respect, was a great friend, mentor, husband to Yolanda, father to Jonathan, son to his parents, and brother to his sister. We were truly blessed by his friendship, and he will always be remembered as the great human being he was.
Thank you, Mr. Perkins, for your dedication, love, care, and kindness.
To Yolanda and Jonathan, we are here for you—you are family.
Artie was one of a kind. Growing up in Bethel AME Church was enjoyable because we were all “family”. One link on the chain is missing but now Artie is the angel carrying the camera.
Our deepest condolences for your loss. Prayers for healing and comfort to you and your family!
Yolanda and Johnathan,
We are so sorry for this sudden loss. We have fond memories of Art taking pictures of the girls, and our family Christmas picture! Times chatting out in the yard, waving while cutting the grass. High school tennis with Matthew and Johnathan. He will be missed.
To Yolanda, Johnathan & Debbie,
I’m deeply saddened to hear about Artie’s passing. The Smith family lived next door to my family on Milwaukee St. Artie would come over and visit each time his family visited his grandmother.
Our families shared so many memories growing up, and I’ll always treasure those moments. My heart is with you and your family during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Artie,
Gail Hardeman- Baltimore
So sorry, sad and shocked to hear that an old tennis friend, still young, has suddenly passed away. Saw him at the Circle of Courage Awards late 2025 and he was telling me all about Jonathan. Heartfelt condolences to Yolanda and Jonathan. May God bless them with comfort and peace.
I so sorry for your loss.Art was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed. Sending prayers for your family.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Perkins family and all of Art Perkin’s friends. All of us at Angels’ Place are sending prayers for peace and comfort during this sad time.
Art Perkins was a kind and compassionate man who cared deeply for those he loved and those in need. Art and his wife Yolanda are very kind and supportive of Angels’ Place for many years and we are blessed to have such compassionate people championing our mission.
We appreciated his frequent visits to drop off gifts for the children, he entertained us with his jokes. The world will not be the same without Art’s presence and the joy he shared. All of his friends at Angels’ Place offer their deepest sympathy at this time of sorrow.
