Anna J. (Schmidt) Filip

Anna Filip of Ross, a loving mother and beloved wife of the late Stanley A. “Demps” Filip Sr., died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 17, 2023. She was 97. Anna Jane Schmidt Filip was born and raised on the North Side. She was proud of her work as an Air Raid volunteer in her neighborhood as a teenager during World War II. It was at that time that Anna began  a romance by mail with her future husband, who was serving in Europe as a paratrooper in the Army. They were married in 1946 and the family moved to Shaler in 1955. Stanley died in 1999. For the past 13 years, Anna lived with her son, Joseph, in Ross. She is also survived by a son, Stanley A. Jr., and his wife, Marjorie, of Ross; and a grandson, Jeffrey, of Shaler. Anna was a regular at church bingos, enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and in later years looked forward to weekly outings to the Meadows or Rivers casinos.

Friends received Sunday 1-5 p.m. at Devlin Funeral  Home, Inc., 806 Perry Hwy, North Hills . Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, St.Teresa of Avila Church, Monday at 11:30 a.m. Everyone please meet at Church.
