William Masucci

Age 91, of Shaler, died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret C. Massucci (Ciccotelli); loving father of Richard B. Massucci (Sandra Copes) and David Massucci (Melinda Mihm); loving grandfather of Megan Griesbach (Matt) of San Diego, CA, Lindsay Jack (Brian) of Shaler, Dr. Maura Massucci of Brooklyn, NY, Meredith Massucci of Ross, and Blaise Massucci of Shaler; proud great-grandfather of Ruby Griesbach (8), William Blaise Griesbach (5), Colton Jack (2 mos.); and special godfather of Leanne Onorato. Preceded in death by his brothers, Raphael (Mary), Tony (survived by wife, Mary) and Michael (survived by wife, Dorothy). He will be greatly missed by his dear friend, Lydia Mance and her family. Born Blaise Pasquale in Forli, Italy on Feb. 3, 1921, he came to live in the Manchester area of Pittsburgh at the age of eight. He graduated from Allegheny High School and was a WWII Army veteran who proudly served as a Tank Commander at the Battle of the Bulge. He later moved to Shaler where he founded his own construction company, Massucci Builders, Inc., and became one of the first developers of custom home communities throughout the North Hills area. Giving back to his roots, he was an original participant in the Manchester Historical Restoration Program and served on Regina Coeli Parish Council. Bill was a lifetime member of the ISDA, Amity Lodge where he was honored with a lifetime service award. He loved life including hunting, bowling, dancing, and golf, all of which he did until his late eighties, including a hole-in-one at age 88. He will be remembered by family and friends for his sense of humor and many practical jokes. The family would like to thank caretaker, Janet Henney, the staff of Arden Court and Family Hospice for their compassionate care during his final days. Family and friends received Friday 2-4, 6-9 p.m. at T.B. DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Hwy., North Hills. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sebastian Church, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anthony School Programs, 2000 Corporate Dr., Suite 580, Wexford, PA 15090.
