86, of Ross Twp., died on Sunday, January 24, 2016. Born in Alliance, OH, he was the son of the late Walter N. and Alma Haidet. He was preceded in death by two brothers, LaVerne and Eugene Haidet, and his beloved wife, Carmela. He retired as manager of Construction and Property Accounting from Alcoa, Inc. in 1992 after 36 years of service, and is a past member of the Financial Executives Institute and a Life Emeritus member of the International Management Accountants Association. He also was retired with the rank of Captain (Navy Supply Corps) from the U.S. Naval Reserve with 32 years of service, including several assignments as commanding officer of Naval Reserve units, and including active duty during the Korean War, serving on the USS Wasp (CVA-18) and USS Waldron (DD-699). He was a Life Member of the Korean War Veterans Association of Western PA, Tin Can Sailors Association, Military Officers Association of America, Reserve Officers Association, and of the Association of the United States Navy. He was also active in the USS Wasp and USS Waldron Alumni Associations, where he served as Commodore for the latter. He was a long time member of St. Sebastian Parish in the North Hills, having served on the Parish Council and Finance Commission; while also serving as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Server for Funeral Masses, and member of the Stewardship Committee. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Sebastian Co. 14696. He was a graduate of Alliance, OH High School, class of 1947; Mount Union College, class of 1951, where he was active in many campus activities and a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity; and the Wharton Graduate Division of the University of Pennsylvania, class of 1952. He is survived by his beloved children, Dr. Keith Haidet, Dr. Ellen (Paul) Mustovic, and Dr. Paul (Dr. Mary Lynn Fecile) Haidet; his grandchildren Jared, Alexander, and Jonathan Haidet, and Victoria, Christina, and Ruth Ann Mustovic; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends received Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 806 Perry Hwy., Ross Twp. Mass of Christian Burial, Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Sebastian Church. Interment with military honors to follow in Holy Savior Cemetery, Pine/Richland Townships. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Sebastian School, 311 Siebert Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
