Tyler A. Pulpan

December 27, 1984 - January 08, 2025

Tyler A. Pulpan, of Cranberry Twp., passed away peacefully at UPMC Passavant – McCandless on January 8, 2025 after a 20-year struggle with alcoholism, as well as mental health. He entered the hospital on his 40th birthday. Tyler was surrounded by family, love and prayer as he transitioned to his Heavenly home, where he is surely made whole and finally at peace.
Tyler is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara, father, Frank (Hank), grandparents, Frank and Mary Pulpan and Victor and LaVonne Bordell, uncle, Thomas Bordell, and his closest cousin, Charles Harrington IV, who passed on the same day just one year prior. He is survived by his brother, Shawn (Heather) Pulpan and nephew, Benjamin. He also leaves behind his beloved pup, Mia.
Tyler was an extremely loving grandson, taking on the role of his grandmother’s (LaVonne) caretaker for a year, especially in her final days. He found great purpose in caring for Grandma on his own after his mother died. Tyler struggled with the loss of his beloved grandmother, which tragically fell within one year of losing his mother and uncle.
Tyler went to St. Alphonsus grade school, and then onto Vincentian Academy, where he graduated in 2003 with the International Baccalaureate diploma. He was prom king and played both soccer and baseball in high school. He then attended Penn State University, starting on the biochemical engineering path. He later switched his major to Business and was one semester shy of earning his degree.
Tyler loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and kayaking, and adored his dog, Mia. He loved that he got to take his nephew fishing for the first time, where he helped Benjamin catch bluegill after bluegill. Tyler’s dream was to purchase a scamp trailer and drive cross-country with Mia, exploring national parks and fishing holes. He took Mia to the dog park almost every single day when he was physically able.
Tyler worked various jobs, including as a landscaper and many roles in the food service industry. Most recently he worked at Domino’s and started his own carpet cleaning business with a friend.
The family hopes that Tyler is remembered for his very giving nature and huge heart. He always greeted people with a smile and made friends easily with neighbors, co-workers, other dog parents at the dog park, etc. He asked lots of questions and was genuinely interested in what was going on in others’ lives.
He freely gave to others – regardless of who they were or if they were truly in need – oftentimes knowing they would likely never repay him or return what was borrowed. If you asked Tyler, you almost always received. He opened his doors to others, offering a home to those in need. Many people greatly benefited from his generosity and non-judgmental spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do something kind for someone else this week – buy someone a cup of coffee, pay for their lunch, go out of your way to help…pay it forward, because Tyler gave freely.

Family and friends are welcome on Monday from 4-7 pm at Devlin funeral Home of Cranberry Township, 2678 Rochester Rd. A funeral service celebrating Tyler’s life will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at the funeral home with Fr. David Schmidt officiating. Entombment will follow at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

Our family (Kate Pace’s family – Vincentian Academy days) remembers Tyler well – he stood out amongst the wonderful group of young people who came rather regularly to our home as one who was never too hurried or preoccupied to greet the parents and siblings warmly, extend his gratitude and offer to lend a helping hand – such a nice young man. We are so very sorry to hear of his passing and of the losses recently suffered by his family. May good memories and the promise of eternal life in a better realm bring comfort and confidence to Shawn and all of Tyler’s family.

A part of my heart will always belong to Tyler. It’s hard for me to find the words to express how deeply this news hurts. I was always rooting for him despite growing apart. Sending my condolences to you Shawn, and your family. You wrote a beautiful obituary. I promise to do my part to share small acts of kindness with others in his memory.

Tyler was a great neighbor. I’ll miss him coming over to use my printer and catching up with him. He always had a future plan of doing something good. MIA brought great joy to his life and ours as his neighbor. He suffered for so long with back, leg, and hip pain, that I’m glad to know that he is finally pain free and with his family in heaven again, at peace.

Growing up in The Circle, we all played, learned, and grew up together. The loss now felt is immeasurable. May peace and love fill the void that is left by Tyler’s passing.

Tyler’s passing was a complete shock to our family. We are devastated. We hold onto many memories of what a hard worker he was & the love that Tyler had for caring for our Marley & boxer puppies. His smile I can & will never forget. I am blessed on this journey through life to have had the opportunity of meeting him. His memory will remain in my heart forever. We are praying for your family at this very difficult time. May God watch over his loved ones. God has truly gained another angel. My Sincerest Sympathy Gloria’s mom Cathy
