Trudy Flaherty, Age 94 of Ross Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2024.
Trudy was born into a large family, and was the ninth child in a family of 10 children, later becoming the beloved wife of the late Thomas Flaherty. Jr. and loving mother of her children, Kathy (Mickey) McKenna, Thomas III (Kathy Jean), the late Kevin, Teresa (Gary) Heusey and Michael (Charlene); Trudy was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Tom and son Kevin, Trudy was preceded in death by her six sisters, and three brothers and a granddaughter.
Trudy was a proud mother of her five children, a stay at home mom during the younger years. She loved having big family gatherings at her house for holidays and other celebrations. During this time she became active in the CCD program at St. Teresa’s parish. She was also very involved in getting the women’s organizations together at St. Paul’s Retreat House, beginning the women’s retreat movement and married couples retreats. Her two daughters continue to make retreats, as well. Trudy recently remarked that St. Paul’s was a joy in Trudy and Tom’s lives.
Trudy and Tom reached their pinnacle together working in the real estate business as a team, earning them the spot of top producer in the North Hills of Pittsburgh.
Friends will be received on Tuesday 6-8 PM and Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Hwy., Pgh, PA 15229. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday 10 AM in St. Teresa of Avila Church (Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish). I had the great good fortune to partner with Tom Flaherty during our time together as members of the Corporate Communicatios department at Dravo Corporation. Tom was a wonderful fellow, whip smart and great fun to be with. Whenever he was complimented on his good work, Tom was always quick to say that the real talent in his family belonged to his beloved wife Trudy. How very proud he was of everything she accomplished as mother to their children in their private lives and creator of a thriving real estate practice. My sincere condolensces to Trudy’s children, and heartfelt thanks for sharing their dad with his colleagues at Dravo. Tom and Trudy were a matchless couple.
