Timothy A. Matthews
Age 68, of Economy Boro, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025.
Beloved husband for 48 years of Carol L (Selby) Matthews.
Born in Rochester, PA Tim was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Mary Matthews. Brother of Terry Matthews (Shelby) and the late Leslie “Pete” Matthews (Susan); Brother-in-law of Martin Selby (Loretta). Tim is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Following graduation from Rochester High School he completed a millwright apprenticeship at J&L Steel Mill, Aliquippa, PA. He later attended Vale Technical Institute, Blairsville, PA, graduating from the Autobody/Collision and Repair Technology Program. He was employed at various car dealerships before fulfilling his dream to have his own shop.

Tim was kind and fun-loving. He loved and appreciated art, and was a talented artist. He was a car enthusiast, music lover, stargazer and a Steelers and Pirates fan.

When the weather cooperated you may have seen Tim cruising with the top down in his bright green Chevy SSR singing to his favorite tunes.

Family and friends are welcome on Sunday from 2-6 pm at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry Township, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 am at Divine Grace Parish, St. Ferdinand Church. Interment will follow at St. Cecilia Cemetery, Rochester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Tim’s name to your local food bank.

In Tim’s final act of generosity, he selflessly donated his organs to The Center of Organ Recovery and Education.

My deepest sympathy to the Matthews family. Tim grew up in my neighborhood in East Rochester. He was always happy. Always so friendly. It’s sad to see him gone now and he will be missed. I do remember him driving around in his car. He was a real car buff. A lot of great memories with Tim and his brother Terry growing up. Hoping the family will find peace and comfort during this time. Prayers.
