Of West View Borough on Wednesday, June 26, 2013. Beloved husband of 62 years to the late Phyllis J. (Perka); loving father of Thomas G. (Rae), Michael J. (Brenda), John P. (Carla), Matthew L. (Beth) and Amy L. Klaas (Glenn); proud grandfather of Thomas, Paul, Matthew, Michael, John, Brianna, Kylie, Alaina, Madison, Talia, and Isabella; great- grandfather of Caleb; Brother of the late Murven J. Witherel. Tom was born July 10, 1923, graduated from Allegheny High School, served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater in WW II, honorably discharged, retired from Port Authority Transit. He was a former elected councilman of the Borough of West View and long-time member and chairman of the Board of Directors of the West View Water Authority, past president of the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association, past president of the Allegheny County Boroughs Association, past chairman of the Allegheny League of Municipalities, and past chairman of the MRM Trust. My sympathies to Tom’s family. I worked with Tom for many years. First starting with Pittsburgh Railways and ending with retirement from the Port Authority. I also lived in West View. Tom was a great help to me on many occations in our employment with the Railways and the Port Authority.
