Tom J and all of your family,
I read your father’s obituary in the Post-Gazette this morning. What a nice testament to him. I thought it had to be your father but wrote to Jan to ask her. I have been connected with a number of Allegheny classmates, and have been grateful to reconnect with a number of others. We would welcome you to our zoom chats. I hope life in Quincy has been good to you.

We were saddened to hear of Uncle Tom’s passing. While we can’t be there to pay our respects, please know that we are keeping him and the Devlin family in our prayers. We have so many fond memories of the Fandl relationship getting together for holidays. Those memories we hold in our hearts. I also remember Uncle Tom as being an example of a fine gentleman and an example for all of us. He was a successful business man, a man of faith and a family man. It should be noted that I chose Uncle Tom to be my confirmation sponsor. As we got older and moved away from the Pittsburgh area, those holiday celebrations shifted to our more immediate families. Unfortunately as people often say, we only see each other now at weddings and funerals. When I was in town for a funeral I would always see and will always remember Uncle Tom greeting people at the door to the funeral home. He was very personable which is most likely one strong attribute to his success. Uncle Tom, you will be missed.

May the road rise up to meet you Tom. Vicki Worek

Mr. Devlin was such a kind person and I enjoyed being across the street neighbors for many years.
As a child growing up we were so grateful to be welcomed to the swimming pool in the back yard – we spent many happy summer hours in that place.   Mr. and Mrs. Devlin were so thoughtful to my parents as well, and continued to invite my Dad over for dinner years after my mother had passed away!  My deepest sympathy to the family and I am so sorry I can’t be with you in person to honor the memory of a wonderful man.

There are so many memories of Mr. Devlin – his kindness in allowing us to swim in their pool as kids; Trips to Penn State with Maribeth when he said about each car we passed that was packed up – They’re going to State Maribeth !! ; His kindness with us when Mom passed away – coming across the street during that time period and sitting with Dad and me at our kitchen table. He was always unfailingly kind and a dear friend to our family.
Our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Devlin , Maribeth, Tom and Mark and family – on your loss. Mary Lou Hummel
