Sister M. Ligorius Kracinovsky

Sister Ligorius Kracinovsky, 91, Sister of Charity of Nazareth, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Vincentian Nursing Home. She entered the Vincentian Sisters of Charity from Holy Trinity Parish, Duquesne, in 1934. Sister received a bachelor’s and master’s degree of education from Duquesne University and studied at the University of Dayton and Brock University in Canada. Sister taught in the Pittsburgh, Greensburg, Johnstown, Youngstown, Ohio, and Mobile, Ala., Dioceses as well as in the Diocese of St. Catharine, Ontario, Canada. She also served as a principal in the Pittsburgh schools. Her last 22 years were spent ministering at the Vincentian Nursing Home. Sister Ligorius is survived by one sister, Agnes (Richard) Kosko, of Rochester, N.Y.; a brother, Bernard, of Palm Coast, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Joseph Salay, of West Mifflin; and numerous nieces, nephews and her sisters in the community. Sister was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Elizabeth; her sisters, Ann Palsha, Helen Mizik, Mary Molanich and Irene Salay; and a brother, John. Family and friends will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the St. Louise Convent, 8200 McKnight Road. The Resurrection Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the St. Louise Convent Chapel. Burial will be in the Convent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vincentian Nursing Home, 111 Perrymont Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
