Sister Annette Kasper

Sister M. Annette Kasper, a Sister of Charity of Nazareth, KY, passed into eternity on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the age 93, and in the 74th year of her religious life. Sister originally entered the Congregation of the Vincentian Sisters of Charity from St. Michael Parish in Munhall, PA. She received her Bachelor and Master’s in Education degree from Duquesne University. Her teaching ministry spanned 40 years in elementary and secondary education where she taught and served as principal in the dioceses of Pittsburgh and Greensburg, PA, Youngstown, Ohio, and Springfield – Cape Girardeau, Missouri. After leaving the education ministry, Sister Annette served in various ministries including baker, dietary aide and sacristan for the Vincentian Sisters, and as a laundry supervisor and office assistant at Vincentian Regency Nursing Home. Sister Annette was known for her great love of nature. She loved and cared for animals and had a green thumb which allowed plants to thrive under her care. An avid sports fan, she rooted for her favorite Pittsburgh teams while tirelessly crocheting numerous afghans and other beautiful items. Sister Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anna Kasper; and her brother, Joseph; and sisters, Helen and Mary. She is survived by her brother, John; and sister, Veronica; nieces and nephews; and her Sisters in community. Friends will be received at St. Louise Convent, 8200 McKnight Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Louise Convent Chapel. Interment will follow in the Sisters’ cemetery on the convent grounds. Memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, Office of Congregational Advancement, P.O.
