On Wednesday, November 14, 2018, Shirley Ann Neal loving wife and mother of two children, passed away peacefully at the age of 78. Shirley was born April 1, 1940 in Pittsburgh, PA to John and Wilhelmina (Janke) Nese. She attended Peabody High School, Maison Felix Beauty School, and Butler County Community College. Shirley was a small business owner and touched many lives as well as developed lifelong friendships through her beauty salon, Shirley’s Place, located in Gibsonia and Carnegie, PA. Shirley, known to friends and family as “Gram”, was a curious spirit, collector of gems, and animal lover with dogs Max, Wee (Dunk), and Kookie. She was known for her cheery sense of humor, quick wit, and compassionate soul. Shirley is survived by her husband John “Jack” Neal; two daughters, Loretta Thompson and Cassandra Franklin; sister, Jean Dicicco; brother, Robert Janke; grandchildren, Elliot Wolf and Danielle Harris; and great-grandchildren, Fitzroy and Sigrid Harris. Keeping to Shirley’s wishes, there will be no funeral service but for those who knew of the quietly powerful mark she left on the world, please celebrate or toast her well-lived life.
