Survived by his parents, Laurence and Natalie Gaertner, 2 brothers, Timothy and Brennan Gaertner and his grandmother, Tillie Gaertner. His beloved girlfriend, Karen Mesonka.
Visitation Sat. and Sun. 2-4, 7-9 PM at North Hills Location, Funeral Mass at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Mon. at 10:00 AM.

I was heartbroken to hear about Shawn. Although our connection was influenced by years and circumstance, I really considered Shawn to be truly one of the most honorable and genuine people I ever had the privilige of knowing. I will treasure those memories of our friendship through Grade School, CCD, High School, College and Beyond. I know how much he loved his family and I hope that is able to comfort you in this very difficult time. I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to the entire family. Shawn was a wonderful person and he will be missed.

I was extremely saddened to hear about Shawn’s passing. Shawn was my Pirates season ticket rep and was a first class individual always catering to my needs. I manage the radio station in Indiana that broadcasts the Pirates and we had many nice conversations over the years. I am so sorry about your loss. Simply put, Shawn was an outstanding person to know and he will be missed! My condolences.
