Age 80, of Cranberry Twp., formerly of McCandless Twp., died on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 of leukemia; She is survived by James Knox Donnell, her loving husband of 9 years. Formerly married to Thomas Oates IV, now deceased. Also survived by her three children, Thomas Randall and his wife Joan of Bridgewater, NJ; Joel Andrew and his wife Susan of Duluth, GA; Andrea McClain and her husband Lawrence of Beaver County; step-daughters Bridget (Fred) Newton and Jane Donnell (partner Roland Moore), and step-son Calvin (Tish) Donnell. Also survived by grandchildren, Kim (Oates) and Rob Naegely of Lincoln Park, NJ; Megan Oates of Bridgewater, NJ; and Jordan McClain of Rochester, PA; step-granddaughters Meggie Newton and Eilish Donnell and step-grandsons Kyle Newton and Liam Donnell. Other survivors include a sister-in-law, Anne Clouser of Sun City, FL, nieces Hilary (Randy) Gilmore, Vivian Faircloth, Sandra Clouser, and Mary Danner (Michael) Pomeroy and nephews Paul D. (Karen) and Charles (Judy) Clouser. Seven great-nieces and a great-nephew also survive. Donnell was the daughter of Paul R. and Vivan Okerbloom Clouser who predeceased her as did her brothers, Paul E. and K. Danner Clouser. A graduate of Middletown, PA, high school and a cum laude graduate of Gettysburg College, Sally was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority and Phi Betta Kappa honorary society. She was a member of the Berkeley Hills Lutheran Church for 51 years where she volunteered in many capacities over the years. Her career was focused in volunteer administration and community relations in a variety of settings, from Director of the North Hills Center for the Greater Pittsburgh YWCA to Assitant Director, Community Relations for Shadyside Hospital and then at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. She was a member of the PA Library Association and served as president of PA Citizens for Better Libraries. After marrying James Donnell, she moved to Sherwood Oaks retirement community where she continued to volunteer in community activities, including co-editing the monthly newsletter. Friends will be received on Friday from 4-8PM at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME of CRANBERRY, 2678 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Twp., (724) 772-8800. Memorial services will be held on Saturday 11AM at Berkeley Hills Lutheran Church, 517 Sangree Rd., Pgh, PA 15237 and Sunday 3:30PM at Sherwood Oaks, 100 Norman Dr., Cranberry Twp., PA 16066. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
