Sam Caddick

Age 96, of Freedom, PA passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 20th. 2019.

He was born in Follansbee, West Virginia to the late Charles and Vola Wright-Caddick. Sam was the oldest of six children.

Sam served in WWII in the Air Force, completed fifty two missions, and received honorable discharge as Captain.

He spent summers in Apollo, PA working on the family farm, where he met his future wife. They made their home in Farmingdale, New York where they raised three children: Mark, Kevin, and Rosemary.

Sam’s career took several turns in either working for or owning several businesses, but all with a strong sales component, which he loved. Prior to retiring, he spent many decades specializing in heavy equipment. The saying “if you love what you do, you will never have to work a day!” suits him very well.

Sam will be remembered for his love of family and desire to help those in need. He was predeceased by his wife of sixty years, Rosemary Dilick Caddick, son Mark , brothers Thomas, James and Ralph.

Left cherishing his memories are his siblings Nelly Hernandez, Walnut Creek, CA, Mary Joy Van Norman, Imperial, PA, and Elizabeth Davis, San Antonio, TX. His children: Kevin Caddick, (Helen) Massapequa, NY, Rosemary Brodersen (Bruce) Hartwick, NY. His grandchildren: Cheryl Caddick-O’Connor (Garvin), and Joshua Caddick of Houston, TX, Kathryn Caddick-Bennett (Jason), Dobbs Ferry, NY, Laura Wade (Danny) , Sayville, NY, Jennifer Caddick, Massapequa, NY, Kelsey Brodersen, Brooklyn, NY, and Gregory Brodersen, Alexandria, VA and ten great-grandchildren: Lexi, Jacob, Destiny, Sidney, Mark, Avery, Amelia, Finley, Emerson, Isla and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Pat Simpson his loving companion and caregiver for the past twelve years.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Devlin Funeral Home in Cranberry Twp, PA.
