Rosemary Waters

June 12, 2014

Rosemary Waters, 88, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2014. She always surrounded by lots of love and family during her final days. Rosemary was born on May 24, 1926, in Kittanning, PA, to James and Mildred (McGrath) Ellermeyer. She was the eldest of seven and mother of six. She graduated from Kittanning High School in May 1944 and went on to graduate from Mercy School of Nursing. On November 24, 1949, Rosemary married her wonderful husband, Edward D. Waters Sr. They were married for 54 years until Ed’s passing in May 2004.
Ed and Rosemary raised their family in Ross Township where they took pride in creating a beautiful home and providing wonderful family celebrations on holidays such as Memorial Day, July 4th and Family Reunions. Rosemary moved to Stonebrook Village in 2005 and for the last 10 years, she enjoyed her family, friends, and quiet time. Rosemary will always be remembered for her loving heart and strong work ethic. Rosemary worked as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years for Mercy and Passavant hospitals as well as a surgical nurse for Ophthalmologist, Dr. Richard Burke. Throughout the years, Rosemary was known for her creative talents which included cake decorating and needlepoint. Her homemade frosting was a favorite and in demand for many weddings. Rosemary was lovingly called Rory by friends and her late husband who passed away May 8, 2004. She was an extraordinary person to everyone she met. Special niece, Carol Ellermeyer Hartman noted, “”Rosemary was one of my best friends. She was the kindest, sweetest, nicest, crème of the crop persons I have ever known.”” Everyone appreciated Rosemary’s straight forward honesty. She was the most loving wife, sister, aunt, cousin, and above all mother. People respected her opinion and “”guess what “”she really was always right! The old sayings “”Mother knows best!”” and “”Honesty is the best policy”” are true and Rosemary exemplified those beliefs. Rosemary was especially close with her sisters, Mitzi and Doris. She particularly enjoyed their annual trips to Las Vegas with them which became a family tradition as more and more family members joined in the fun.
Rosemary is predeceased by her parents, brothers, James, Gerald, and Thomas Ellermeyer, and beloved sister Doris Ellermeyer Krizmanich.

Waters Jr. (Smith Mountain Lake (SML) VA, Gary Waters (North Hills), Gregory Waters (SML, VA), Bradley Waters (North Hills), Gerald Waters (SML, VA), and Dana Waters Dreczka (Colorado), 16 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. When you awaken in morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush, of quiet birds in circle flight, I am soft stars that shine at night, don’t stand beside my grave and cry, I am not there. I did not die.
