Robert (Bob) Ryan was born on July 16, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA. He attended St Pius V grade school and McKeesport Senior High School then attended the University of Dayton from which he graduated in 1968 with a degree in accounting. He relished Dayton Flyers basketball.
In his youth he loved to play baseball and basketball and told countless stories about his misadventures with CYO friends and teammates.
In high school, he met and fell for RoseMary Johns, who thought his name was Larry but who married him anyway on December 27, 1969. They were married for 54 unforgettable years.
Bob was an avid golfer, and you could always find him either on the green or playing cards, often too late into the night. He appreciated the finer things in life like good food, plaid sportscoats, Broadway shows. He really knew how to tell a joke, and was a gifted nicknamer (you knew he liked you when he gave you a nickname).
Bob started his career at Touche Ross before building his own CPA firm, Ryan & Co., which he ran for 40 years. He always said you don’t need to be good at math to be an accountant but you have to have good common sense. He loved taxes.
He was a proud father to three children, Sean (Beth), Katie, and Maggie, and adored his grandchildren Sarah, Abigail, Damien, Miriam, Samuel, Winnifred, Rebecca, Henrietta, and Luke. He quietly donated to numerous charitable organizations and modeled for us all the value of generosity.
Bob has joined his mother and father, Sarah (Savage) and Edward Ryan, along with his brothers Jerry, Dennis, and Mark, in heaven. We are certain he is at peace.

Rose Mary and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all! Bob was a wonderful man and will be missed by all! Hold all of those happy memories in your hearts. May he Rest in Peace!
I always looked forward to our visits to PA to see Aunt Rosemary and Uncle Bob when I was a kid. He always had the ability to make me laugh and his upbeat attitude was contagious. While I can’t say I love taxes, I do love #s so maybe some of Uncle Bob rubbed off on me. I have many fond memories of my time with him, but I’m glad to know he’s at peace and will finally have that elusive perfect round of golf.
A beautiful obituary! Bob’s picture says it all! He was thoughtful, funny, wry, and loving. And a true gentleman! My condolences Rose to you and your family- my thoughts, prayers, and fond memories to all. Eternal Rest Robert Luke Ryan!
