Robert Fornadley

Age 88, of Cranberry Twp., passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Good Samaritan Hospice. He was born December 25, 1927, in Sharon, PA, the son of the late George and Anna (Antos) Fornadley. Mr. Fornadley graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950 with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. During WWII, he attended the basic preparatory school of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in Groton, CT, choosing to return to his studies at Pitt when the war ended. He retired from the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers on April 8, 1994, where he was responsible for coordinating engineering divisions and technical subcommittees, as well as arranging seminars and workshops. Early on in his career at the AISE, he also functioned as an associate editor of the Iron & Steel Magazine. He visited steel mills world-wide on behalf of the association. An avid fisherman all his life, he also liked studying languages and the Bible. He attended and was educated at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. His main enjoyment in life was love of family. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Mowry) Fornadley; a brother, James (Rita) of Tobyhanna, PA; two sons, Robert D. (Kathy Jo) and Timothy Fornadley (Kelly), both of Butler, PA; daughter, Regina Fornadley of Elizabeth City, NC; and a daughter- in-law, Mary of Kill Devil Hills, NC. He has five grandchildren, Andrew (Michelle), Sara and Michelle Fornadley, Katlyn (Ben) Frichtl, and Elizabeth (Jeremy) Johnson; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard; son, Michael; and grandson, John. Friends will be received at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME of CRANBERRY, 2678 Rochester Rd., (724) 772-8800, on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday 10 a.m. in St. Ferdinand Church in Cranberry. Interment will follow in St. Gregory Cemetery, Zelienople, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Light of Life Rescue Mission, 10 E. North Ave., Pgh., PA 15212.
