Robert Milie

Age 84, of Cranberry Township, PA passed away peacefully on July 4, 2014 at his home. Beloved husband to Josephine for 57 years and father of Mark, married to Lisa, Roberta Delazio, married to Anthony Delazio, and Marie Milie Jones, married to Cameron Jones; and cherished grandfather of Alexandra Delazio. Robert dedicated his life to his family’s well being and happiness. Born in 1929 and raised in Vandergrift, Robert graduated from St. Vincent College and the University of Pittsburgh Law School. Upon his graduation, he was drafted and served a term in the U.S. Army in Korea with the Judge Advocate General’s office. After he was honorably discharged, Robert married Josephine Cirucci of Latrobe in 1956, and they took up residence in Greensburg and started a family. Robert also began practicing law and was a private attorney operating his own diversified law business in Greensburg for over 50 years. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and a past President of the Westmoreland County Bar Association. His outstanding career included service as the Solicitor for Derry Area School District, the Eastern Westmoreland County Vocational Technical School. He was a member of the Pennsylvania School Board Solicitors council, served as President of Greensburg Central Catholic High School Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Hempfield Township Zoning Commission. Robert played high school and college basketball and was an avid sportsman. As an adult, Robert hunted and had a passion for the competition and camaraderie of golf. He was an active and long time member of Greensburg Country Club. After his retirement, Robert and Josephine moved to Cranberry Township to be closer to family. Robert was committed to providing the best life for his family. He enjoyed traveling with Josephine and vacationing each year with family and friends leaving many happy memories. He lived to very high standards and expectations for himself and his children and was a believer in the power of education. He was loved dearly by those close to him and was a role model for many. Robert was a devout catholic and while residing in Greensburg, belonged to Our Lady of Grace Parish and then belonged to St. Kilian’s Parish in Cranberry Township. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy and Knights of Columbus Organizations. In addition to his wife, children and granddaughter, Robert is survived by a sister, Frances Pansa, married to Alfred; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Amelia Milie; brothers, Mario, Vincent, Louis, Eugene; and sister, Mary Giotto. Friends will be received on Monday, July 7, 2014, from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME OF CRANBERRY, 2678 Rochester Rd., 724-772-8800. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Kilian Church, 205 Clark Street, Mars, PA. The family would like to thank Celtic Hospice and Be Home Partners for their kind and exceptional care.
