Robert G. Golden, Sr., Of Cranberry Twp., passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Survived by his loving wife Susan; sons Robert G. Jr. and wife Melanie (Sons Zacchary and Mitchell Golden); Mark A. Golden and wife Maureen (daughter Kristin); Michael and wife Suzanne (Sons Nolan and Christopher); Daughter Susan and husband Donald (daughters Sydney and Morgan and son Benjamin); Daughter Jessica McManus and husband Sean (daughter Drew); Julie Turner and husband Christopher (Son Noah, daughters Quinn and Genevieve); 12 Grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A military Veteran of over 20 years in the USAF retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant serving honorably as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal technician responsible for rendering safe explosive hazards, road side bombs, land mines, booby traps and other explosive devices. He had the honor of working with the US Secret Service providing Explosive Ordinances Disposal support for presidential and Vice Presidential visitations in various venues. During his service career he received fourteen ribbons and medals which includes the prestigious Airman’s Medal for heroism involving voluntary risk of life while serving in Viet Nam two USAF Commendation Medals and US Navy/Marine Corps. Commendation medal for meritorious service. An over 60 year member of Perry-Ionic Masonic Lodge 796 and over 60 year active member of the Pittsburgh Shriners, serving as the Captain of the Guard for over 30 years; member of the Executive committee, Marshal and many other committees and projects within the Shrine Center. He was a proud member of the Legion of Honor serving as Commander in 1991, Captain of the Drill, Drum and Bugle Corps for over 23 years, as well as member of the Legion Executive Committee, Board and many other duties. Active life member and office of Pittsburgh Court No. 2, Royal Order of Jesters and nominated as Director. Was an actor in the ceremonial book for 20 years. Past President of the Bob Prince Tent, Circus Saints and Sinners Club of America. Life member of both the Mars Post, VFW and the Zelienople American Legion. Member of the Condor Aero Club, Zelienople airport and an avid private pilot. Successful business man and founder of Golden Equipment Co., Inc, Mars, PA. He was a member of Grace Church on Marshall Road.
Friends received Wednesday, 2-8 p.m. at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry Twp., 2678 Rochester Road, where a service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be made to Shriner’s Hospitals in care of Syria Shrine Center, 1877 Shriners Way, Cheswick, Pa. 15024.
So sorry for your loss. I hope you will be able to reflect on all the special moments with your Dad and have an enjoyable holiday season.
Bob was an amazing person. Always quick to help, faced every difficulty with grace and always had kind words for everyone. We will miss him so much, but feel lucky to have been a small part of his life.
The world lost a great man, a great philanthropist and a wonderful person Robert Golden. Susan we send our love and prayers to you and your family in this difficult time.
