Of Erie, died peacefully in his home on Thursday, March 2, 2017, surrounded by his family, following a brief battle with illness. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 15, 1955, the eldest son of Donna (Galuska) Sambroak and Robert A. Sambroak, Sr. Bob, known as Bobby to his beloved grandchildren, was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and received his law degree from Duquesne University in 1980. Bob and his family spent the 1980’s in South Dakota before moving to Erie in 1990. Since then, Bob has been a longstanding member of the Erie community and served as a County Judge for just over three years. Prior to his judgeship, Bob worked in the District Attorney’s Office and made a lasting impact on the community in many ways. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barb; his children and their spouses, Penny and Steve Carlson and Stephen and Meghan Sambroak; his grandchildren (the magnificent seven), Jacob, Zoe and Ashton Carlson and Mackenzie, Reagan, Finley and Liam Sambroak; his mother, Donna (Galuska) Sambroak; and his father, Robert Sambroak, Sr., wife, Connie; five siblings and their spouses, Mary Lou (Mimi) and Earl Bayer, Michael and Barb Sambroak, David and Linda Sambroak, Joe and Kathy Sambroak and Janet and Harry (Bub) Grant; many nieces and nephews; two aunts and an uncle, Mary Galuska, and Joe and Patsy Galuska. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Friends may call on Friday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at BRUGGER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORY, 1595 West 38th St. at Greengarden Blvd. Further visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15229, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12 Noon at Incarnation of the Lord Parish, 4071 Franklin Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15214. Burial will follow in Christ our Redeemer Catholic Cemetery. If preferred, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Erie County Library, 160 East Front St., Erie, PA 16507 or the Veterans Miracle Center, 1573 W. 39th St., Erie, PA 16509.
