Robert “BIG BOB” Weaver

Power lifting champion Robert “Big Bob” Weaver, age 79 passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family on Jan. 28, 2017. Bob was born in Pittsburgh on Jan. 23, 1938. He graduated from Oliver High School in 1958. He was an avid body builder, and went on to win Mr. Pittsburgh in 1961, and Mr. Western Pennsylvania in 1962. He went on to train and compete in Power Lifting in 1967, and set the A.A.U. record for a single contest by lifting an aggregate weight of 2,040 lbs for squat, bench, and deadlift, which was recorded in The Guinness Book of World Records. He also enjoyed traveling, and spending time with his family. His smiling face and genuine heart will be greatly missed and he will be forever loved. Bob is survived by his high school sweetheart, and wife of 58 years, Elaine; three children, Kevin (Sharon) Weaver, Rob (Lynn) Weaver, and Jamie (Don) Kohan; six grandchildren, Zachary, Whitney, Sydney, Taylor, Brandon, and Julianne. Also survived by three brothers, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends received Monday from 6-8 p.m., and Tuesday from 12-2, and 4-8 p.m. at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Hwy., Ross Twp. A Trisagion Service will be offered by the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cemetery Chapel with Rev. John Touloumes officiating.
