Rick Barzen, 74, of Ohio Township passed away on April 21, 2024. Son of the late Max and Ann Barzen; son in law of the late Al and Ruth Brimmeier; devoted husband of 52 years to Karen (Brimmeier) Barzen; cherished father to Rick (Christine Tedesco) Barzen, Beth (Ken) Wynne, and Jake (Phoebe) Barzen; proud grandfather to Kayla, Haley, Jenna, Johnny, Ava, Zach, Chase, and Allie; esteemed brother to Joanne (the late George), Maxine (the late Bob) Arlof, Denise (Dale) DeMarco, Cheryl (Denny) Woistman, Elaine (Joe) Lowrie, Nancy (Tim) Wise; uncle to many wonderful nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Rick was a dedicated Marine who served his country with honor during the Vietnam War. He leaves behind a legacy of bravery, integrity, and love. As a pillar of our community his kindness and dedication touched countless lives through coaching sports, helping neighbors and any man woman or child in need. Rick was a compassionate soul who selflessly devoted his time to serving others. He volunteered with the Special Olympics, spreading joy and fostering inclusivity among athletes. His volunteer work at the VA hospital brought comfort and support to veterans in need. Rick’s legacy of generosity and service will forever be cherished by those he touched.
Above all Rick’s life revolved around the love he held for his wife and family. He was a beacon of strength, compassion, and unwavering support, always putting the needs of his loved ones above his own. His boundless love and guidance enriched the lives of all who knew him. Though he may be gone, his legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of his family forever.

I knew Rick from DLCO
He also helped me with the VA.
He always was trying to help someone in need! I am honored to have called him a friend ! My heart goes out to his family! I am out of town and will miss his funeral.

God Bless Karen, and Ricks whole family. We have all lost a wonderful man. Rick was my best friend and I’m absolutely devastated knowing that I will never be able to see him again, we were like brothers and my heart is broken. God Bless you Rick, I already miss you and I’ll never forget you.

Sorry to hear of Rick’s passing. My brother Harry (PHS “67”) told me of the time he was with Rick on watch in Vietnam. Imagine seeing a fellow PHS friend halfway around the world. Rest in peace Rick.
