It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ralph C. Freedman Jr., who left this world on August 30, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on December 20, 1944, in Honolulu, HI, Ralph grew up with an adventurous spirit that would guide him through a life marked by dedication, hard work, and a deep love for his family.
Ralph will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband to Linda Freedman, whom he married on June 10, 1999. He was a proud father to Kim (Chris) Salamida, RC, and Scott, and a cherished father to his late daughter, Melissa. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Forrest, Sylvan, Sage, Zyler, Zaylee, and Maylin; and siblings, Skippy, and the late Ronald (Peanuts) and Shelley.
Ralph had a special bond with each of them and enjoyed sharing his passions, whether it was discussing his favorite sports teams or enjoying the outdoors together.
Ralph’s commitment to service was evident in his long and distinguished career in law enforcement. Serving as the Police Chief for Ross Township for six dedicated years, he touched countless lives through his work. Additionally, he held the position of Franklin Park Magistrate for two terms, always known for his strong work ethic and commitment to community safety.
Being a top left handed pitcher in the area, he was drafted as a senior in high school by Kansas City. Following his time with Kansas City, he dedicated his time to coaching various baseball and softball teams locally, both boys and girls. His love for sports continued as he became an avid golfer and a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and later in life, the Penguins. Ralph also had a zest for horse racing, always seeking out the thrill of the race.
Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday from 3-6:45 pm at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry Township, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township. A Blessing service will be held at 7 pm at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Charles Bober.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Ralph’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
