Visitation: No visitation

Service: Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kilian Church Friday September 10, 2021 at 12:45p.m.

On the morning of August 18th 2021, and in the peaceful comfort of his bedroom, our Lord Jesus said to Phil, “Today you will be with me in paradise.”

Phil was the youngest child born to the late Leo G. and Gertrude (Gloekler) Henry. He enjoyed wonderful years with his older siblings, Thomas (Millie), Fr. Leo Henry, Lois (Robert McCarthy) and cousins Eileen (Bert Kelly) and Bea (William Joyce). Their 14 combined children all revered Uncle Phil as the patriarch of the Henry family after their parents passed.

Phil and Carol (Cristiano) first saw one another at a high school dance at St. Raphael’s in Morningside in 1952. Phil was born and raised in that neighborhood while Carol’s family had just moved there. It was love at first sight, followed by a swimming date two days later. That was the beginning of their love story that spanned 6 years of dating, then a wedding at St. Raphael’s in 1958, followed by 63 years of a beautiful life together.

While Carol was the joy of his life, his best friend and soulmate, their children were the apple of his eye, including Philip (Beth), Pamela (Alan Knapp), Daniel (Lauri), and Dianna. Despite working long hours to provide for his young family, Phil rarely missed one of their school or sporting events, and always ensured that he spent special one on one times with eachof them. Affectionately known as “Pop Pop,” he adored his 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and they equally loved him. Frequent family gatherings including monthly birthday parties, holiday gatherings and the annual Scaringi Italian Family Picnic were all occasions to spend time with and to be “interviewed” by their Pop Pop.

No one collected and maintained more friendships than Phil. These friends were made as he grew up and attended St. Raphael’s Grade School, then Central Catholic High School and finally Duquesne University, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Phi Fraternity. Phil’s professional life included textbook sales for Harcourt Brace & World, Director of Admissions at Bradford Business School, and business owner along with fraternity brother Ray Killen of Dr.Glass Windshield Repair & Replacement. Phil and Carol also founded Mirror and Glass Associates.

In 1993 Phil and Carol moved to Pine Township, first to Treesdale and finally to The Village at Pine. Phil served as a Pine Township Supervisor for 20 years and helped to oversee explosive growth in that area, including the beautiful Pine Township Community Center. He was known to be a very fair and impartial community servant who strived to hear both sides of any issue and made decisions based on what was best for the township. One of Phil’s favorite projects was designing what would become the Pine Township welcoming signalong Route 19. Phil was so honored to also be a Board member of the Northern Regional Police Department and was especially proud of those who wore the uniform of blue. He was also a liaison to the Pine Richland School District.

Phil’s family welcomes all to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Kilian Parish, 7076 Franklin Rd, Cranberry Township, on Friday, September 10th at 12:45 PM, which will be followed by a private interment at Holy Savior Cemetery. Due to covid concerns, a celebration of Phil’s life will be held next spring at the Pine Township Community Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Phil’s favorite charities, Little Sisters of the Poor or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Our thoughts & prayers continue to be with the Henry Family. Mr. Henry truly was a wonderful man who always made everyone feel welcomed. He had such a fantastic sense of humor & I’ll personally miss my time I’d spend with him telling jokes with one another & laughing. I’m just happy to know that he’s in a better place now and he’s no longer suffering. May his memory forever be eternal and may his loved ones & friends always feel his presence. Sending much love and prayers to his beautiful wife Mrs. Carol Henry and the entire Henry Family. With Our Deepest Sympathy & Love, Angel Boulis & Family & Mom Skulos (Nancy)

My thoughts and prayers are with the Henry family.
In writing this message my heart is saddened. I am rejoicing knowing that Phil has made Heaven his Home, no more sorrow or pain, his suffering is over, for that I rejoice with him.
Absent from the body is present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8🙏🏽
