Service: Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Neumann Church, Regina Coeli Parish on Friday May 19, 2023 at 11AM

Paul E. Ermlich, 88, of Masonic Village in Sewickley passed away on April 3, 2023. Paul was born on July 23, 1934 in Roscoe, PA to the late Frank and Blanche Ermlich. A graduate of Grove City College, he began working with Petroleum Products Corporation after a two-year enlistment in the army. Paul had a 50-year career with PPC where he was well-known and respected by colleagues and customers for his good humor, business acumen and work ethic. He so enjoyed the meaningful relationships he built with people that he delayed retirement until age 75.

Paul was the beloved husband of 60 years to the late Flora J. (Ferrante) Ermlich. Paul and Flora spent most of their life together in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania where they built a close network of dear friends and grew their loving family of four children – Anne Lawton (Edward), Thomas (Susan) Ermlich, Timothy (Rebecca) Ermlich, and Michael (Dawn) Ermlich. He is also survived by his sister, Connie (Vince) Wilson of Lancaster, PA.

“Pappy” was a sportsman his entire life. He was a stalwart fan of all Pittsburgh sports, but he had a particular passion for the Penguins and rarely missed a game. His loyalty was contagious, and his entire family followed suit. He shared his love of the simple pleasures of fishing and the outdoors with his children and nine grandchildren. A soccer player in college, he passed his love of the beautiful game on to not just his own family, but to many children in Central Pennsylvania. In 1976, Paul, with friends Charlie Bowers and Bill Nelson, founded Hampden Township Soccer. Over almost fifty years, the club, now known as Eagle F.C., has engaged thousands of youth in the sport.

Paul was deeply committed to his faith and family. With Flora, he was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Camp Hill and St. John Neumann Church in McCandless. Among the many gifts they gave their children, one of the greatest was that of time together. For over a decade, Paul and Flora gathered the entire family for a glorious week of sunshine and laughter in Hilton Head. The official start to the week each year was Pappy tilting back his head, and declaring with a smile on his face, “Ahhh…I’m on vacation!” Pappy will be missed beyond words, but memories like this will live on in our hearts forever.

Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Neumann Church, Regina Coeli Parish on Friday May 19, 2023 at 11 AM. The family would like to invite any friends or family to their gathering for food and fellowship after the burial.
