Patrick R. O’Brien
Age 57, of Marshall Twp., passed away peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2021 in his home, surrounded by his beautiful and loving family: the love of his life, Cathy (DePietro) O’Brien, whom he married on Oct. 1, 1988; and his beloved “pack”, his children Emily, Kevin, Julie, and Kyle O’Brien.

Pat, son of John (d. 1974) and Patricia (Kennedy) O’Brien, was born on April 30, 1963 and raised in Cranford, NJ. Dear brother of Jack (Judy), Tom (Patti), Brian, Kevin (Joni), Colleen, and James (Judy) O’Brien. Much-loved uncle to dozens of nieces and nephews and dear friend to countless others. To know Pat was to love him.

Pat enjoyed a storied career in the global foreign exchange markets, based in New York City, Sydney, and Pittsburgh. Pat was an avid skier and became a ski instructor at the Seven Springs Mountain Resort. A life-long sports and fitness enthusiast, he enjoyed cycling, hiking, body-surfing, soccer, hockey, basketball, and long walks with his beautiful dog, Lucky.

Pat was admired by all for the courage and positive energy he displayed throughout his long battle. He was the life of every party, and his warm smile and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are welcome on Friday from 3-7 pm at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Twp. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10 am at St. Kilian Church, officiated by Rev. Charles Bober.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Pat’s name to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center

My cousin Patrick was a prince of a man. He adored his wife and children and always put them first.

Patrick was intelligent, articulate and witty. He worked hard to create a career on Wall Street. He remained humble and grateful.

Patrick earned the respect of his peers. More than that, his endearing personality and integrity created lasting friendships.

I am blessed to be part of the great O’Brien clan.
Patrick will remain a cornerstone of our family.

OB was a great friend. He was always good and kind to my siblings, Chris and Karen Dougherty. My Mom always thought of OB as a genuine, kind-hearted, and humorous soul. He was an excellent soccer player and made our 1981 Cranford soccer team awesome because of his talent. Thanks to my dear friend, I have the absolute best, funny, and memorable moments in life. Thank you for everything OB. Rest In Peace my friend. Love Doc
