Foley, Neva J. (Whalen)
Age 87, of Shaler, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-nine years, Coleman Foley, and their children: Diane Eli, Michael Foley (Jill), Jeannine Foley, Daniel Foley, Kathleen Corbran (Edwin) and Mary Derby (Daniel). She was the proud grandmother of Michael Eli, Bria Eli (deceased), Kristine Backner, Kelly Matrulli, Erin Pace, Kevin Foley, Kaitlin Hook, Emilie Foley, Chuck Mosholder, Lisa Krachey, Colleen Collett, Sean Loar, Bridgette Corbran, Meghan Corbran, Melissa Derby, Ashley Derby, Daniel Derby, Jr., Abigail Derby and Ethan Derby. She was the treasured great- and great-great-grandmother of seventeen additional grandchildren. She was the cherished sister of Constance Irwin (deceased), John Patrick Whalen (Barbara), and Kathleen Elias (David). She was also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Due to the COVID-19 situation, all services will be private at this time.
Neva met Coleman through his sister, Barbara, and they embarked on a lifelong journey of raising their family on the Northside of Pittsburgh. In particular, she devoted herself to being a caretaker to her son, Danny. Her independent nature, drive, wit and charm led her to success in Tupperware and management at Coffee Express. She was bold and fierce, and pioneer in appliance painting and hair coloring. Talkative and kind, she could make a stranger feel like an old friend. She enjoyed a good game of cards, a good book, and a good episode of NCIS. She was a lifelong Catholic in word and in deed.
She lived a long, full life and will be forever remembered and missed.
