Michelina (Perri) Gliozzi

September 30, 1926 - March 29, 2005


After a courageous battle with cancer, at age 78 she passed away peacefully at her Ross Twp. home on Tuesday Mar. 29, 2005. A native of Plati, Reggio Calabria, Italy, she was born to Dominic and Antonietta Perri on September 30, 1926. Michelina is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Anthony. She was preceded in death by both parents, her sister Concetta, and brother, Rocco. She is the loving mother of five children and their spouses: Frank (Emilia) of Baldwin, Dominic (Diane) of Franklin Park, Joseph Jr. (Lisa) of ( West View), Maria Kochis (Peter), of McCandless and Mario (Tracie), of McCandless. She is the dear grandmother of Christina, Frank Jr., Richard, Michael, Rachel, Tony, Nick, David, Peter, Joseph, Christopher, Nathan, Andrew, Keenan and Michelina. Additionally, she is survived by sisters Maria, Caterina and Antonietta and brothers George and Vincent (all of Australia) and another sister, Francesca ( of Italy).

Michelina was married to Joseph in Italy in 1949 and immigrated to the United States in 1951. They lived in New Castle, PA, until 1962 before moving to Ross Township. A member of St. Teresa of Avila Parish, she devoted her life to her husband, her children and the Blessed Mother. One of the highlights of her life was reuniting with her mother, Antonietta, who visited with the Gliozzi family in Ross Twp. during 1971 and 1972 before returning to Italy. Michelina and Joseph later celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with their family on an extended tour of Italy in 1974. Michelina’s proudest moment was becoming a naturalized US citizen in 1991. She and Joseph celebrated 55 joyous years of marriage in 2004. Visitation will be at the Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Hwy. Ross Twp. on Wednesday and Thursday, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Friday at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Perrysville, PA. Burial will follow in North Side Catholic Cemetery.
