Mary Lou (Henry) Hrach, a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026 at the age of 82. Mary Lou is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Chuck Hrach; her son C.J. Hrach, M.D. (Kate); her daughter Suzanne Hrach (Jason); her three beloved grandchildren, Emily Hrach (Patrick), Megan Hrach, and Ethan Hrach; her sister Suzanne (Henry) Tighe; and many cherished nieces, nephews and friends. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy (Powell) Henry; and her sisters Shirley (Henry) Malone and Connie (Henry) Schofield.
After obtaining her undergraduate degree in Child Psychology from Mount Mercy College (now Carlow University), Mary Lou enrolled in The University of Pittsburgh where she graduated with a Masters of Education. She proudly taught elementary school in the Pittsburgh Public School District for forty years. Mary Lou was known for her devotion to her family, her quick wit, her impeccable style, and her love of a great party. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by us all. Friends will be received Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Devlin Funeral Home, Inc. 806 Perry Hwy. Pittsburgh, PA 15229. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, 10 AM, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish-St. Teresa of Avila Church, 800 Avila Ct., Pittsburgh, PA 15237.

So sorry to read about Mary Lou’s passing.
She certainly was a force of nature.
I’ve known her since first grade at St.A’s even before I first met you in 3rd grade at Nativity. Always fun to catch up over the years.
Although I cannot express my sympathy in person, know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

This is sad news. I have only the fondest memories of Mary Lou from our teaching days at Northview Heights Elementary. She was a fun and witty person who always enlivened our after school get-togethers.
