Mary June Ortmann (nee Dever), age 95, of Reserve Township and formerly of Brighton Heights, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025.  She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard J. Ortmann, daughter of the late William J. and Irene (Stinson) Dever and sister of the late Bill Dever.

A long-time resident of Pittsburgh’s Brighton Heights, June grew up with a special closeness to her many first cousins and life long friends. She was the President of her Annunciation High School class and a star basketball player. June had a wonderful sense of humor and was the life of every party. She loved Halloween, the color pink, chocolate donuts and talking on the phone.

June was the devoted mother of son Lenny (Rebecca), who died in 2023. She is survived by daughters Mary Ann Reiss (Ed), Renne Cherry (John), Kathleen Steigerwald (Kurt), and Patty Roger (Dennis). She was also the very proud Grandmother of Tim Cherry, Kurt Steigerwald, Jessica Cherry, Natalie Roger, Kailey Steigerwald and Danielle Roger, and Great-Grandmother of Evelina, Axel and Theo Steigerwald. June is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

There will be no viewing. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled for later this summer for family and friends.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Cyril of Alexandria Church (Christ Our Savior Parish) 3854 Brighton Road, Pgh, PA 15212 on Thursday, May 8th at 10 a.m.

Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at New Hope Gracious Personal Care. We were very appreciative to all of the Aides, Commonwealth Nurses, Chaplin and Social Workers for the compassionate care and support they provided to our mother throughout her stay.
