Margaret T. “Peg” Stearn

Age 93, of McCandless, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 exactly one month shy of her 94th birthday.

Peg was the wife of the late Daniel R. Stearn; the loving mother of Mary Margaret

(Michael) Conto and Susan Marie (Brian) Senneway; beloved grandmother of Tessa (James) Gunnell, Christopher, Laura (Justin) Pacini, Daniel, Maggie, Michelle, Chip, and Tommy; great grandmother of Aiden and Blakely May; and sister of Gilbert Wagner, Jr. Peg was predeceased by her parents Gilbert J. and Theresa Wagner and also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews.

Peg graduated from St. Benedict’s Academy where she was a stellar student and after her marriage to Dan, settled in as a lifelong resident of McCandless Township. Always active in her community, Peg was a long time member of Longvue Women’s Club, helming the charity fundraising organization as President for many years, as well as an active member of the Women’s Club of St. Alexis Parish. Peg showed her love of children as a dedicated employee of North Allegheny School District as an Instructional Aide at Peebles Elementary. She was instrumental in founding the Paraprofessional Union branch for the district. As a  treasured volunteer, Peg could always be found at any of her daughter’s schools whether it be St. Theresa of Avila, St. Alexis, Carson Middle School, North Allegheny High Schools and numerous community charities. Peg and Dan were also on the board of the traveling North Hills Buccaneers Baton & Drum Corp, and actively supported and served for over 8 years in various positions. Peg was an avid fan of the North Allegheny Tigers Football team and also enjoyed a warm, close and friendly competitiveness that spanned 20 years with their dearest friends in their Bridge Club.

Above all else, Peg loved her family, summers in Ocean City, NJ, and trips to Presque Isle. As a lover of animals, her contributions to organizations such as

Animal Friends continued her lifelong work to insure the health, care and ultimate

rehoming of animals in need. Peg absolutely adored her grand puppy, Scooter, with her whole heart.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to Animal Friends.

Our condolences to the family. My husband was just talking about Mrs. Stearn’s the other day on how he would watch her dogs and yesterday we find out she had passed. We will remember her fondly and my husband has his memories of her. RIP
