Age 95, of Sherwood Oaks, formerly of Ross Township, died Thursday, June 4, 2015. Wife of the late Robert L. Shannon; beloved mother of Norma Shannon Frank and James J. (Yong) Shannon; grandmother of Shawn Lee Shannon. Margaret (Peggy) was born in 1919, in Ellwood City, PA and graduated from Muskingum College in 1941 with a BA in Home Economics. She also earned a Master of Letters in retail training through evening classes at the University of Pittsburgh. After teaching Home Economics for a year in Gratiot, Ohio, she went on to work for Lazarus department store in Columbus and then in the research office of Joseph Horne Co. in Pittsburgh. She married Robert Shannon in 1953. She was a longtime member of Hiland Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Lydia/Priscilla Circle, including serving as secretary, and was a strong supporter of the North Hills Food Bank. Friends received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 806 Perry Hwy., Ross Twp. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sherwood Oaks, 100 Norman Drive, Cranberry Twp., PA 16066. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the North Hills Food Bank.
