Lucille Snyder Deutsch, age 98, of Elk River, MN, formerly of Raleigh, NC, passed away of natural causes on December 8, 2020 at Fairview Northland Hospital in Princeton, MN.

Lucille was born December 30, 1921 in Trinity, NC. After meeting and marrying her husband Frank, Lucille moved to Pittsburgh, PA, where they raised a family. Following Frank’s death, Lucille worked as a college professor after earning her doctorate in 18th Century English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh. Lucille lived a full life that included her family, her church, as well as a lifetime of writing and painting.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Frank J. Deutsch, brothers Joe and Bill Snyder, and sisters Jane Spence, Bob Richardson and Mary Lou Sheets, as well as grandchildren Nina Deutsch Ahankoob and Greg Burkett, and her parents Tom and Iva Snyder.

Surviving children are Frank Deutsch and wife Wendy of Herron, IL, Ginny Burkett and husband Kay of Elk River, MN, David Deutsch and wife Chris of Dover, NH, Richard Deutsch and wife Mary Beth of Richmond, VA, and Ron Deutsch of Reidsville, NC.

Grandchildren: Krista Fouquette, Laura Moore, Patrick Deutsch, Beth Deutsch, William Deutsch, Annie Saunders, Sarah Deutsch and Thomas Deutsch. Also, great-grandchildren: Nick LaFosse, Matthew Fouquette, MacKenzie Stanick, Shaelynn Grzybowski, Brogan Grzybowski, Conlan Deutsch, Lulu Deutsch, Tori Deutsch, James Deutsch and Ava Deutsch.

Lucille is survived by sisters Ann O’Hara and Becky Kindley of North Carolina, and Sara Allen of Virginia.

Lucille will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Arrangements by DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC.
