Lois Simen

Lois (Brooke) Simen, Pensacola, Fla., died Thursday, July 30, 2015. She was 90.
Lois was born Sept. 22, 1924, in Tacoma Park, Md., but lived in Shreveport, La., with her parents, Clarence and Esther Brooke, until she continued her education at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., where she obtained her degree in sacred music. She received her master’s degree in sacred music/organ from Eastman School of Music in NewYork City.
Lois was the beloved wife of the late Rev. R.B. Simen; mother of Bob Simen, Toledo, Ohio; Karen (Jim) Paxton, Pensacola, Fla.; and Bethel Simen, Berea, Ky.; grandmother of Blessing (Jon) Ball, Levi and Ian (Madison) Paxton, and Katie and Natalie Simen; and great-grandmother of Kyla Paxton and Evan and Paxton Ball.
Lois cherished the many friendships she acquired over the years in the numerous churches she shared in ministry with her husband. Friends received Noon until time of service at 1 PM Monday in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 920 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh.
In lieu of flowers, she desired donations be made to music scholarships at St. Olaf College, 1520 St. Olaf Ave., Northfield, MN 55057; or hospice.
