Lawrence Joseph Schweiger, Jr.
June 30, 2022
Lawrence Joseph Schweiger, Jr. of Cranberry Twp., on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents Ida Mae (Hall) and Lawrence Joseph Schweiger, Sr. Larry will be remembered as a loyal, thoughtful, and generous friend with a keen sense of humor. He greeted strangers and friends alike with a smile and kind words.
Larry grew up in Pittsburgh’s North Side before leaving to serve for three years in the United States Army stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He returned home to Pittsburgh to begin his 35-year career at Mellon Investor Services. Larry held management positions in the mail center and shareholder relations before capping his career at Mellon with nine years in relationship management. As a senior relationship manager, he was responsible for a portfolio of 25 accounts receiving numerous commendations from his corporate clients for providing excellent service. Later, his customer service skills and attention to detail served him well as a sales consultant at a local Lincoln-Mercury dealership for four years until he retired. In retirement, he realized his dream of owning a 1996 Corvette Collector Edition convertible, one of only about 1,400 made. He enjoyed driving his “96 Vette” with the top down as many days as Western Pennsylvania weather allowed.
A private committal service with military funeral honors is being held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
I worked with Larry for many years at Mellon. He was a great guy to work with. RIP
I had the pleasure of working with Larry for most of those 35 years at Mellon Bank. He will always be remembered for his positivity in any and all situations. Also he enjoyed an occasional cocktail or two. RIP buddy.
