Lawrence C Bossong Jr, age 78 of Mercer, formerly of Marshall Township, passed away on October 22, surrounded by his family.  Born June 22, 1944, in Beaufort, SC, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Adelaide (Zapf) Bossong Sr.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Patricia M Bossong and his brother-in-law, James Porta.  He was retired from Iron Workers Local 3.  Chuck had a love of the outdoors and instilled that love in his family.  He was an avid trap shooter with the North Suburban league.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children Charles (Lisa) Bossong, John (Jill) Bossong, Patricia Bossong-Schwartz (Jeff Schwartz), and Robert (Yvonne) Bossong; grandchildren, Jordan (Collin), Alexandra (Jess), Lydia, Jacob, Charlie, Brandon, Ashley and Dylan; sisters, MaryAnn Porta and Deborah (Dave) Belin, his brother and best friend, Bryan (Amy) Bossong, his 6 nephews and their families.   Chuck’s favorite holiday was Christmas. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to help make Christmas joyous for children in need. Friends received Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry Twp., 2678 Rochester Rd., 724-772-8800. Mass of Christian burial at St. Luke The Evangelist Parish, Sts John and Paul Church, Wednesday at 10 a.m.

    I always considered Chuck a close friend. Over the years, I worked with Chuck, for him, and he worked for me, that’s the way our industry was. I always valued Chucks knowledge and input on the projects.
    We are sorry we missed his service, but our prayers are with Chuck and his Family.
