Kerry J. Aquadro, age 78, of Wexford and formerly of Ross Township, passed away peacefully on Friday August 1, 2014. He was born on September 30, 1935 in Pittsburgh. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Alma (Mihm) Aquadro. Loving father of Robin (John) Breidenbach of Dublin OH, Brian (Mary) Aquadro of Libertyville IL, and Deborah Aquadro of Wexford. Adoring grandfather of Katie, Megan, and Kevin Aquadro and Kellie Breidenbach, and the late Patrick Veenstra. Brother of Lynn (Bill) Poncez of St Louis MO and Arlene (Mike) Gualtieri of Greentree. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family members. Kerry was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Lucille Aquadro.
Mr. Aquadro was a 1953 graduate of North Catholic High School and a 1957 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. Mr. Aquadro served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Corps of Engineering in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
Mr. Aquadro was a member of the Instrument Society of America and a lifelong Registered Professional Engineer. He was employed with the Harold G Jones Company for many years and retired from the James Cox Company as a Manufacturing Sales Representative.
He was very active in the North Hills Jaycees, a member of the Knights of Columbus #3907 in Wexford, loved swimming at Valley Brooke Swim Club, travelling with Barbara’s Tours and Travel Club, and a was a member of the Perrymont AARP. He was a devoted Catholic and served as a lector at St. Sebastian Church for many years.
Kerry loved his family, friends, golf, fishing, and especially attending games and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved family vacations every year and enjoyed many trips and cruises with his wife after his retirement.
Kerry was a wonderful, devoted husband, father, and grandfather who truly enjoyed life. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a true gentleman.
Family and friends will be received Monday 6-8 PM and Tuesday 2-4, 6-8 PM at Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Highway, North Hills. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday , Saint Sebastian Roman Catholic Church at 10:00 AM , followed by interment at Christ The Redeemer Catholic Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to a charity of your choice.
The family also thanks all of the nurses and aides at Cranberry Place for the love and support they gave to Kerry (Care Bear), and to Family Hospice.
