Kenneth T. Dishart
Age 92, of McCandless Twp., passed away on Wednesday March 6, 2024. Born July 31, 1931, son of the late Urban and Helen Dishart; beloved husband of the late Joan Dishart, whom he married on March 25, 1961; loving father of Michael, Peter (Linda), and Katy (Dan) Cole; brother of the late Urban (late Terry) and the late Paul (Maureen).
Ken grew up in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Lawrenceville, and he attended Central Catholic High School where his love of chemistry began. Ken earned his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh and then joined DuPont in 1958 as a research chemist. Through his DuPont career of 35 years he held a variety of positions in basic research, new product development, customer technical service, marketing and sales. He contributed multiple scientific publications and numerous patents to his field. After retiring as a research fellow he dedicated another 15 years as an industry consultant.
Ken was a devoted husband and father. As a young man he was active in the American Youth Hostel program, where he met his wife. Ken and Joan were married for 60 years, and Ken cherished the life they built together. His thoughts were with her constantly after her passing, and this gave him comfort in his final years.
In Lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Central Catholic High School or American Chemical Society.
Friends will be received Friday March 8th from 6-8 PM at Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Hwy and again on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of service at 11:30 AM at the funeral home.
