ROOS, KENNETH, H. (“Ken”) Age 86, of Ross Township, on November 10, 2013. Beloved
husband of Lois for sixty-one wonderful years; loving father of Gretchen (Scott)
of Wexford; Ken (Beth) of Ambler, PA; Greg (Marty) of Placentia, CA; Jeff
(Valerie) of Newport Beach, CA; Marita (Margaret) of Annapolis, MD; cherished
grandfather of Shannon, Andrew and Christina (Wexford); Andres and JohnCarlos
(Philadelphia); Taryn (Gavin) and Adam (Vivian) of California; Marissa (Jon) and
Briana and their mother Coleen of California. Brother of the late Msg Jules
Roos; Dave (Marjorie) of Philadelphia; Ralph (Teresa) of Baltimore; Dan
(Barbara) of Illinois and many devoted nieces and nephews. Ken graduated from
Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon University) in 1952. He left an indelible mark on
the Pittsburgh area as the architect of sixteen local Catholic churches, including the St.
Sebastian’s chapel in the North Hills and St. Joseph Church in Verona, and over seventy-
five homes. He also designed the renovation for several other churches, schools,
rectories, convents and commercial buildings in the surrounding region. One of his most
enduring legacies is his design of the maternity hospital, clinic and several other buildings
at the Maternidad de Maria, a mission in Chimbote, Peru which has served the poor for
over fifty years with his ongoing support. Ken was also an original founder of the St.
Vincent de Paul Society of St. Sebastian’s parish and actively served as a member and
treasurer for forty years. Ken will be remembered as an unassuming, quiet man of great
faith and devotion who used his many talents and resources to help those less fortunate.
Through his example of kindness, humility and generosity, Ken served as a tremendous
role model and inspiration to his children, grandchildren, friends and family.

Friends will be received at the T. B. Devlin Funeral home, 806 Perry Hwy, North Hills on Friday, November 15 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 16 at 9:30 a.m. at St.
Sebastian’s Church, 311 Siebert Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. In lieu of flowers, the
family requests donations to St. Sebastian’s St Vincent de Paul Society, 301 Siebert Rd
Pgh 15237; Heritage Hospice 356 Freeport St. Suite 200 New Kensington Pa 15068 for
their excellent care; or the Chimbote Foundation, 111 Boulevard of the Allies Pittsburgh,
PA 15222.
