Kathleen Kiefer
Age 80, of New Sewickley Twp., formerly of Ross Twp. and Leeper, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. Kathleen was born on September 1, 1940, daughter of the late Martin J. and Mary F. (Jellison) Carroll. Beloved wife of Augustine J. Kiefer Jr., whom she married on April 27, 1963; loving mother of John (Laura), Christine (Jeff) Baron, and Andrew (Christine); dear grandma of David, Luke, Caitlin, Jessica, Meghan, Madeline, Eric, Nick, Jacob, Isaac, and Stephanie; great-grandma of Hazel; sister of Martin (late Bobbie), Mary Lou (Jack) Miller, Patricia (Joe) Marone, and Frances (John) Amer.

After graduating from St. Benedict Academy, Kathleen attended St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg, Maryland. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and worked in public health as a Registered Nurse before raising her three children. She was an active leader in the St. Teresa of Avila Christian Mothers and the Perry Highland Junior Woman’s Club. She continued her community involvement with the Leeper Woman’s Club when she moved to Cook Forest to live in her dream log home.

Kathleen had a deep faith in Christ and an active prayer life for all those who now miss her. She was an avid crafter with decorations and matching outfits for all the seasons and holidays. She had an extensive Santa Claus and knickknack collection. She treasured the moments of gathering with family and friends around a savory dessert any time of the day. She loved the tranquility and joy of the forest and the variety of birds – with the cardinal being her favorite. Her love language was gift giving – especially “happy day” presents. She was known for her warm hugs. She was truly invested in the lives of all those around her and was eager to hear the stories of our lives. Without a doubt, Kathleen devoted her life to spreading kindness and joy to her family, friends, and community – her middle name could have been Joy.

Family and friends are welcome Sunday February 28, from 3-6 pm at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Twp. A Private Family Blessing Service will be held Monday March 1, and Interment will follow at Christ Our Redeemer North Side Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Kathleen’s name to a charity of one’s choice.

Kathy and I shared 5 wonderful grandchildren, as Andy is married to my daughter, Christy. She was genuinely interested in the lives of others, never failing to ask about extended family when we were together.
May the road rise to meet you, Kathy
May the wind be always at your back
    And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His mighty hand.

Kathy is the dear sister of our sister-in-law, Fran Amer. Although we only met her a few times, we remember her as such a sweet, loving, and fun person. Our sincere sympathy to Gus, Kathy’s children and grandchildren, and of course our dear Fran. May your faith in the Risen Jesus along with our prayers help comfort you as you mourn.

  • Lynne Jellison Boley

Please accept our condolences for the passing of a wonderful Jellison cousin of ours. There are many “joy” filled memories of family holidays back in the day and cousin reunions, of late. Kathleen was a special woman with the warmest of hearts. Among many others, Uncle Al will be waiting to give her a hug. Peace be with all of you. Hugs, Lynne Jellison Boley

  • Diane Magliocca
