Karolyn Huber, age 85, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2020. She was born October 11, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to George and Jenny Beran. She married her soul mate and love, Dr. Donald Joseph Huber, at St. Teresa’s church on September 7, 1957. Karolyn and Don Huber were married for 63 happy years, a true testament to their love for each other that never dimmed.
Karolyn had a strong Catholic faith and intellectual curiosity that guided her through her life as a woman, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Chestnut Hill College and a Master’s degree in Formative Spirituality from Duquesne University. Karolyn was active in her church during her life, volunteering for many ministries and supporting activities.
Karolyn lived almost her entire life in the Pittsburgh area. Karolyn enjoyed playing bridge, golf and attending the theater and concerts. Karolyn and her husband were well traveled in their later years, making trips to numerous countries/continents. Karolyn took great pride in her children and grandchildren and invested her time and efforts to be supportive of their lives and dreams. As a wife Karolyn was devoted to her husband Donald and together they provided a model for what a true and selfless marriage, based on mutual love and respect, can be in today’s world.
Karolyn is survived by her husband Dr. Donald Huber and her large extended family. She is survived by her three sons Donald and his wife Marybeth Huber, Mark and his wife Lisa Huber, and Matthew and his wife Joan Huber, as well as her two daughters Victoria Tecce and her husband Dr. Marc Tecce, and Jennie Kirschler and her husband Rob Cook. Karolyn was preceded in death by her granddaughter Emma Huber and is survived by a total of 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. All of these she loved and touched deeply. Karolyn will be missed by so many.
