Judith (Rubenstahl) Ortsey passed away on May 30, 2026. She was born on April 30, 1938 to George Rubenstahl and Eleanor (McGee) Rubenstahl in Youngstown, Ohio. Judy graduated from Ursuline High School in 1956 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Youngstown University (now Youngstown State University) in 1960. She then taught elementary school students in the Youngstown public school system for more than a decade. After taking a break from the workforce to raise three sons, Judy spent twenty years at various banking institutions in Kalamazoo, Michigan and Pittsburgh. In her retirement, Judy remained active in her church and community, learning how to play mahjong well at the age of 83. Judy is survived by her three sons (Craig, Neal, and Scott), two daughters-in-law (Suzanne LaVere and Carrie Ortsey), four grandchildren (Eleanor, Caroline, Nathaniel, and Alexandra), younger sister (Eleanor Anderson), and younger brother (George Rubenstahl). She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 49 years (Raymond Ortsey), and two older sisters (Joann Raghanti and Roberta Lenhart). Judy is already deeply missed by everyone who knew her because of the love, kindness, and compassion she expressed every day of her life. She genuinely cared about people and listened to what they had to say, which are rare and precious qualities that are often missed only when they are gone. Flowers are welcome, but donations can be made to any of the following charities in lieu of flowers: the St. Vincent de Paul Society; the Parkinson Foundation of Western Pennsylvania; the Department of Teacher Education and Leadership Studies at Youngstown State University.

My family shall miss you, may you rest in peace now.
Please accept our deepest condolences on Judy’s passing. We are neighbors in the Villas, and mahjong players who loved playing the game with her. She was a dear sweet lady who will be missed by many.
