Dr. Judith Adams aged 69, of Summer Hill passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025. Proceeded in death by her parents, the late William J. Adams and Dolores Adams and sister Lisa Wojcik. She is survived by sisters; Midge (Bill) Herbick, Jill (John) Hannon and Celeste (Jack) Rhodes. And many loving nieces and nephews.
Judy’s life was defined by her unwavering dedication to both her family and her profession, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Judy graduated from St. Margaret’s School of Nursing in 1976 and found great joy in caring directly for her patients as a staff nurse and nursing supervisor. Driven by a desire to effect change in healthcare at the macro level, Judy obtained her BSN from Carlow University, followed by her MSN and DNP from Waynesburg University.
Judy had a heart for the underserved. As Director of the Positive Health Clinic At Allegheny General Hospital, she her team achieved distinction of becoming a Patient Centered-Medical Home (PCMH) a team based model of primary care that provides comprehensive services and coordinated care to improve patient outcomes .
Judy was passionate about education for patients, staff, and nursing students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She served as Director of Outpatient Education for the Allegheny Clinic for over seven years, leading a team of nursing professional development specialists to support the nursing staff and team members across ambulatory primary care practices within Allegheny Health Network. During this time, Judy’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) evidence-based practice project was published in the CDC’s Compendium of Evidence Based Practices and Interventions for HIV Prevention. This compendium was a summary of evidence based practices collected and summarized into one compendium document, recognized as best practice for the treatment and prevention of HIV. Judy’s time working in the Positive Health Clinic at AGH influenced this work. Her passion and dedication to this patient population, could not be more highly recognized, than in this publication. This was her most proud achievement.
Additionally, Judy also served as the Director of Education and Practice Development at the AHN Allegheny Clinic and was adjunct faculty at CCAC North, Duquesne, and Waynesburg Universities. Judy was proud to be a mentor and a published author.
A dedicated member of the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of Nursing Professional Development, Judy played an active role in supporting the Annual Conference as part of the planning committee and served as Zoom Master for online meetings. Her calm demeanor, wealth of knowledge, and teaching skills made her an invaluable mentor to new team members on the Nursing Education and Professional Development Team.
Judy will be remembered by those who worked alongside her as kind, compassionate, fair, and supportive.
Judy had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome. She loved sharing gourmet food and fine wine with family and friends. She also rescued and lovingly cared for her beloved sometimes “challenging” greyhounds.
Never one to brag or boast of her work and accomplishments, Judy would matter of fact announce in any setting “‘I’m a nurse!” Just in case you may need her. This became a running family joke which we found every opportunity to yell out for her. We think she enjoyed it.
In lieu of flowers – donations to Cancer Bridges, 2816 Smallman St., Pgh, PA 15222 or animal charity of choice Friends will be received on Sunday, April 6th from 1-5PM at DEVIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Hwy., Pittsburgh, PA 15229. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Athanasius Church (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish) on Monday, April 7th at 11AM.

Remembering when we were so young, and how many people we could pack into her Karmann Ghia, and the laughs that we all had. Peace, Judy…
Midge, Jill and Celeste,
I was very sad to hear of Judy’s passing. It’s hard to lose a sibling — they are a huge part of who you have become.. May she rest with your mom and dad, Lisa and God. She was always so very kind and friendly when I would see her. God bless you all
I have known Judy since my Home Care days at AGH. She’s wonderful. Caring, kind, ambitious and smart. She loved her family and her work. God Bless . Rest in Peace, Judy.
You are now with the angels we talked about as children, cousin Judy. We pretended then to be nuns & both eventually became nurses.
Heartfelt condolences to Judy’s families & close friends, Sharon Scarcelli de Jong
Midge, Jill and Celeste,
I am so sorry to hear of your sisters passing.
May she rest in eternal peace.
Your childhood neighbor.
So sorry to see this one for sure. May she rest in peace!
Judy will truly be missed, we graduated from high school together. Later years she joined a wine club that I started and we had so much fun! After we disbanded the club we stayed in touch and enjoyed many girls nights out! Our birthdays were a day apart & we always sent each other a card. I will really miss her, she was a fantastic person. Sending thoughts & prayers to her sisters. ❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
ONE OF THE BEST! She will be greatly missed.
Judy was a true friend and a wonderful person and nurse. I have known her for many years and she was the first person I told that i had breast cancer. She was supportive through that and many other years of our lives. She will be greatly missed.
I had the pleasure of knowing Judy through my friend Lisa Trpcic. Judy loved her greyhounds dearly and was always willing to help a pet in need. Judy was a blessing to many and will be deeply missed. Rest in eternal peace.
My heart is down at my knees. Judy was my dear friend of many years. She always had a knack for knowing what we needed whether a dinner out or just a walk to catch up. She even visited my dear brother when he was admitted to AGH. What a good soul! Very kind and generous with her time! And her family was her heart- I know she was theirs😘
Midge, Jill and Celeste,

I had just texted her the Monday before her passing, I didn’t realize the end was so near. My deepest sympathy and healing prayers to you all and your families 🙏
Judy was my boss first then we became good friends. Although we lost touch over the last year and a half I will treasure the memories the dinners the conversations on Sundays walking with Judy and Chloe and Henry and Ali. She was a kind and generous person and the very best Boss I ever had. May her memory be a blessing . ❤️
They say that if it rains when someone dies it’s the angels opening the gates to heaven for that person.
It rained the day Judy died. Judy was a very special person. My deepest condolences to Judy’s family.
Judy was a dear friend and neighbor to my daughter Pamela and her husband Andrew. Pamela had so many wonderful stories, conversations and experiences with Judy over the years. Judy was kind, generous and was the perfect friend for young newlyweds. They helped each other and could depend on each other. Although I didn’t know Judy personally I was always grateful for the beautiful friendship Pam and Andrew experienced in knowing Judy. May she rest in eternal peace.
Midge and family,
My deepest sympathies. Your sister was too young. I am very sorry for your loss. Thinking of you during this difficult time. Fondly, Maureen
