Age 87, of Cranberry Twp., formerly of McCandless Twp., died on Monday, April 13, 2015, in Sherwood Oaks. Beloved husband of Brenda (Mimi Goetz); loving father of John A., and James C.; doting grandfather of Morgan and Marissa; he is survived by his siblings, Ruth (Van Kirk), Martha (Murray), and Jay; and was preceded in death by his brother, William. Joe was born in West Newton, PA and was a graduate of West Newton High School in 1946 and Penn State in 1951. He worked as a chemical engineer for Koppers Co. for over 30 years at various chemical plants across the eastern U.S. During the Korean war, he was in the Chemical Warfare section of the Army from 1953 until 1956 at the Army’s Edgewood Arsenal in Maryland. While in the Army he obtained his private pilot’s license. He holds several patents granted to him personally for chemical and mechanical processes. Joe was an avid bridge player developing his own bidding system. No visitation please. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on April 25, 2015, at Sherwood Oaks.
