Joseph John Fidago, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Devoted husband to wife of 46 years Marylee (Rodack) Fidago and loving father of Joe L., Emily C., and Michael W., he is preceded in death by his sister Cindi and parents and leaves behind many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Joe’s wide-ranging career spanned roles in advertising, marketing, and print sales until retirement when he then stayed busy teaching himself DIY projects to do around the house.

Joe had a love of history and was always reading a history book. He cherished discussing all aspects of the Civil War with son Michael and ensured that every family vacation included at least a few pit stops at battlefields or other historical sites. There was no sci-fi horror movie so bad that he wouldn’t watch it, a hobby he shared with older son Joe. His daughter Emily could do no wrong in his eyes especially when it came to her baking. Joe met the love of his life, Marylee, at LaRoche College. The couple were subsequently married at St. Teresa of Avila’s old church on the hill. Joe, along with Marylee, was a dedicated member of the parish and enjoyed serving as a volunteer for the festival, flea market, and lenten fish fry set-up.

Joe will also be missed by many friends, especially his South Park High School pals Dean Bastianini, Pat Herforth, and Joe Massomino. Joe enjoyed many family vacations to the Outer Banks with long-time friends the Bastianinis and equally enjoyed reminiscing about those trips ad nauseam.

Joe will be forever missed by family and friends who find comfort in the thought of him finally reuniting with loved ones who have gone before him as well as Sarge and Ozzie who we know are waiting for him at the end of the rainbow bridge.

Family will welcome friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC. 806 Perry Hwy., Pgh, PA 15229. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday 10AM in St. Teresa of Avila Church (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish), 800 Avila Ct., Pgh, PA 15237.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Ave., Pgh, PA 15212.

Joe was our lifelong friend. When he meet Marylee and later when they had children we were as close as family. We are all saddened by Joe’s passing, but so thankful that he was in our lives. I owe him a thank you for all the times he made me smile. I know he felt the love and respect we had for him. We will always miss our friend.

    Marylee , Joe L. , Emily and Michael ,
Jesus came to Earth for more than to die on the Cross for our Sins .
Jesus came to experience life as a human being so he knows our pain .
Jesus experienced heartache , rejection , deception , loss , sickness , and sorrow , just like Us .
God wanted his Son , Jesus , to experience all the heartache of this world , it is Jesus who understands our pain firsthand . When We Pray Jesus Really hears our Prayers , sees our hearts , and feels Our Pain .
When you can’t put your Prayers into words Jesus hears Your Heart .
I Pray that Jesus gives You all comfort .
If there were more Husbands , Fathers and Men like Joe the World would be a better place .
Joe , I am blessed to be Your friend and cousin , Love Always Mark Nowinski
