Age 74, of McCandless Twp., passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021. Beloved husband for 41 years of Sharon (Lusky); Loving father of Joseph LaPlace, Jr. and Steven LaPlace (Melissa); Proud grandfather of Piper; Also survived by loving relatives and friends. Joe was a proud Marine. He served his country in Vietnam with the 3rd Recon Battalion Charlie Company, where he was awarded a Purple Heart. Upon being honorably discharged, Joe returned home and attended Carnegie Tech before starting his own roofing company. After 30 years in the roofing business, Joe “retired” by joining the Operating Engineers Local 66, where he worked for another 15 years. Joe also found joy in volunteering with his fellow veterans. He was involved with VFW Post 2754, the Marine Corps League, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 455. Friends will be received on Saturday, September 18th from 2-6PM at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC. 806 Perry Hwy., Ross Twp. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 455, 7060 Highland Drive, Pgh, PA 15206.
