John Roberts

September 07, 2017

Visitation: Saturday, September 16 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Service: Saturday, September 16.

Suddenly, on Thursday, September 7, 2017, John Thomas Roberts, 80, of Pittsburgh passed away. John was born in Huntington, West Virginia and spent the majority of his life in Pittsburgh, the town he loved and vowed he would never leave. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was an avid hunter and spent a lot of time hunting in Canada and at his hunting camp in Tionesta, PA. A generous, hard-working, helpful and popular man, he enjoyed his friends and family, and the feeling was mutual. John proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, loved the Marines and remained active in his local Marine Corps League. He is preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Mildred E. Roberts, and his sister, Donna Davis. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rita Carboni Roberts; two daughters, Shelley (Tim) Driver and Mary Elizabeth (Mike) Graff; and proud Papa to his four grandchildren (Zachary Driver, Caroline Driver, Aaron Graff and Casey Graff); three sisters (Jane Brumm, B. Linda Zacur and Rebecca Cillo); two brothers (Randolph and Geoffrey) and his nieces and nephews. We will miss him every day of our lives.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 1 to 4 with a short military ceremony following at Devlin Funeral Home in North Hills, 806 Perry Highway Pittsburgh. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Three Rivers Leatherneck Detachment #310, at Marine Corps League, Inc., P.O. Box 15433, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
